The versatile artist Cihangir Gümüstürkmen lately produced the CD "Cihangir's Blackbird ". He accompanies the music-pieces with cymbals and sings the three songs himself. The album grants touching insights into the Turkish music sprouting from Ottoman roots and belly-dancing-culture.
The born Berlin Süleyman Celik arranged the fourteen titles since his family comes from Turkey. Since the fifteenth year of life, he devotes himself to the percussion, for example in the area of the jazz. Among other things, in 2005 he composed for Turkish pop-artists like Tarkan as well as half of the pieces of this CD. The orchestration consists of saz, ud, clarinet, saxofon, qnun, cello and nay furthermore. The booklet informs about the producer, the composer and each title with a short legend in English and German.
