BERLINER Takht ENSEMBLE feat . Tarab Ensemble "LIVE
The spiritual father of this CD is Mohamed Askari, a mediator between cultures. The ethnomusicologist plays nay (flute) in ensembles and as a soloist, has performed since 1982 with classical Arabic music, is engaged as a music teacher at teacher training, child and youth work and is co-founder of the music magazine AL-MAQAM. His goal is to give the European audience for classical music closer to his home country and thus create a basis for Greater understanding and tolerance.
The Berliner Takht Ensemble (founded 1995) plays classical Arabic compositions, especially Longa (fast track) and (worn 10 / 8 rhythm) Both forms of composition go back to the Ottoman examples. They usually begin with a prologue (Muqadimma), followed by verse (Khana) and chorus (Taslim). Instrumental interludes for soloists are sometimes prescribed. The Tarab Ensemble sings Arabic choral songs (like Muwaschah, Ughneya, Taqtuqa) from orally handed down tradition, traditional poetry, or more recently (eg by Sayed Darwish, Zakareya Ahmed and Mohamed al-Qasabgi, who spent 30 years with the Egyptian singer To Kulthoum) .
